So often we hear nothing but bad news lately, especially about the police. But I have some really good news to write about.

Last week, my teenage granddaughter took her dog for a walk at Ehlert Park in Brookfield. It has lots of paths and is quite large. My daughter and I also took a walk there.

My granddaughter dropped her phone from her pocket and didn’t realize it until she was home. We all went back to the park with flashlights, but by then it was too dark. I suggested to my daughter that she call the Brookfield Police non-emergency number. She did.

I guess I expected them to just take notes about the phone and put it down as missing. But no, they went to the park and found the phone. Then they took it by my daughter’s home to return it to them. Wow! I was amazed.

The thought of it brings tears to my eyes. The Brookfield police really went above and beyond what they had to do in my opinion, and I want to thank them and let others know.
