Bonnie L. Baker (nee Grossman), 67, a longtime resident of Brookfield, died Jan. 9, 2021 at Landmark of Des Plaines Rehabilitation Center.
Ms. Baker was born March 4, 1953 in Chicago and graduated from Lyons Township High School in LaGrange in 1970. She worked at Continental Bank in Chicago, First National Bank in LaGrange and Morton Credit Union in Cicero.
She was very active in service during her time on the PTL of St. Paul’s Church School and was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she and late husband, Larry, volunteered whenever they could.
Ms. Baker enjoyed spending time with her son, Ryan, and close longtime friends and neighbors. To say that she was a people person would be an understatement. Her life revolved around the people she built deep connections with over the years. Bonnie embodied her three core values in life: kindness, selflessness and service.
Her later years were rough, but she kept a sense of humor and beautiful smile all the way through.
Ms. Baker is survived by her son, Ryan L. Baker and Zoe Berk; her granddaughters, Harmony Lisowski and Angelique Baker; cousins, the Johnson Family, Jan (Ron) Miller, the Cekal Family, Dan (Cheryl) Koeritz and her godmother, Arlene Schwandt.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Lawrence Baker, whom she married on Oct. 10, 1982 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brookfield; her brother Wayne F. Grossman and her parents Clarence Grossman, Edward Lorenz, Violet Lorenz (nee Koeritz).
Visitation is Friday, Jan. 22 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at Johnson-Nosek Funeral Home, 3847 Prairie Ave., Brookfield. Interment is at Bethania Cemetery, Justice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for a headstone to honor Bonnie would be appreciated. Online condolences may be offered at JohnsonNosek.com.
