Kyle Huppe (center), a financial representative from Country Financial, presents a check for $1,500 to Brookfield Police Chief Michael Kuruvilla (left) and Fire Chief James Adams during the village’s National Night Out event, sponsored by the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, on Aug. 1.

National Night Out is an annual event promoting police and community partnerships, and Huppe is a director for the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce.

“We’re fortunate to live in such a wonderful place, and we have local police, firefighters and other first responders to thank for that,” Huppe said in a press release. “The last several years have demonstrated the importance of public gatherings to the fabric of small towns and communities. That’s why I’m pleased along with others to promote National Night Out and all the positive focus it brings to those who give so much to our community.”

The donation is part of Country Financial’s Operation Helping Heroes program, created in 2015 to support nonprofit events and programs that benefit active-duty service members, veterans and their families. The program later expanded to include first responders and teachers.
