William “Bill” Anthony Hession, 65, died peacefully on May 29, 2026, at home in Brookfield. Born in Evergreen Park on June 13, 1960, he was the beloved eldest son of the late Joan (née Cliff) and the late William Hession. He was the husband of Nancy LaBreacht, his partner and best friend for nearly 40 years. Together they built a beautiful life in Brookfield, where they raised their family – his greatest joy. He was a devoted father to Liam, Lucas, and Miles, celebrating their accomplishments and encouraging their dreams. That included travel all around the U.S., through Europe, and most especially their last family trip, to Japan. He worked as an options clerk for 40 years at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, where he was known amongst his colleagues as a knowledgeable, hardworking mentor.
An alumnus of Northern Illinois University, he remained a student his whole life and was a walking encyclopedia – able to share interests ranging from Joe Strummer to Marcus Aurelius, with a particular proclivity for the works of Oscar Wilde. He was the brother of Nancy (Mark) Swanson, Katie Hession, and Daniel (Ann-Marie) Hession; the son-in-law of the late George and Dorothy LaBreacht; the brother-in-law of Pam King (the late Mike King) and the late Cindy LaBreacht; the uncle of Anders (Teresa) Swanson, Patrick Swanson, Ellen Swanson, Michael O’Malley, Charlotte Hession, Stella Hession, Michael (Christina) King, Brian (Erin) King, Megan (Fabi) Rodezno, Chris (Maddie) Davidson, and Emily (Varun) Davidson; and the nephew, cousin and friend of many.
All who knew him understood his care and interest for his loved ones. Their successes were his own, as were their tragedies. He carried all of us with him. His loss will be felt immensely.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to WaterStep 625 Myrtle Street, Louisville, KY 40208, www.waterstep.org, would be appreciated. Online condolences, memories and photographs may be shared with the family at www.JohnsonNosek.com.
