A man was arrested last Thursday after leading police on a high-speed chase in a white Nissan near 5th Avenue in Chicago.
The man was driving at about 100 mph in a 35 mph zone and refused to stop when police activated their emergency lights and siren.
He ran through several stop signs and drove over a front lawn before turning into the driveway of 2121 Wolf Rd.
North Riverside police searched his vehicle and found a folded dollar bill with a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.
Police also learned that his license was suspended and that the man had no insurance. He refused to speak or provide a breath or urine sample.
The driver was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, possession of a controlled substance, DUI, driving while license suspended, aggravated speeding, reckless driving, and other traffic violations.
He was released on a pretrial release form and is scheduled to appear in court at the end of November.
Drunk man harasses teenage girls and hits teenage boy in the face
A man under the influence of alcohol was arrested at a North Riverside mall last Tuesday for harassing two girls and assaulting a boy who tried to stop him.
The man called out to two teenagers while they were going to the bathroom and followed them inside.
The man entered the women’s restroom, where the two teenage girls were, and touched one of them.
A teenage boy who witnessed the harassment tried to stop the man.
The man hit the boy in the face when he confronted him.
The mall security had to break them apart from the fight.
The incident was captured on camera by the mall security.
The girls’ parents were notified. The boy did not suffer serious injuries.
Thefts back-to-back at North Riverside’s Kohl’s
A man was arrested for stealing clothes and fragrances from Kohl’s Department Store in North Riverside last Tuesday.
The man and another accomplice were spotted by a loss prevention agent who saw them concealing merchandise and leaving the store without paying.
The police arrived and chased the suspects, who ran away.
The police caught one of the men, who had five stolen items worth $554.70, but the other man escaped.
The loss prevention agent signed complaints for retail theft.
The man was charged with a misdemeanor and is scheduled to appear in court in December.
On Monday, another man was arrested for stealing two FitBit watches from Kohl’s.
The man, who wore a brown trench coat and a blue backpack, hid the watches in his backpack and left the store without paying.
The watches were worth $399.98.
The police found the man near a dumpster and took him into custody.
They recovered the watch from his backpack.
The man was charged with a misdemeanor and released on pretrial release.
He was given a ride to the blueline in Forest Park.
