Brookfield public safety officials are warning that traffic is going to be nasty through the weekend.
Since Nov. 17, the area has been hopping with activity at Riverside Brookfield High School and at Brookfield Zoo.
The high school held its magic show and Bulldogs basketball tournament. It is also hosting the VandeMerkt Basketball Tournament through Nov. 25.
The zoo is building its new Tropical Forests exhibit, a project that is expected to open in spring 2025. It includes a gorilla conservation center and habitats for gorillas, orangutans and monkeys, zoo officials said.
Police said drivers should expect heavy traffic and delays, and warn to plan travel times and routes accordingly.
They also ask those attending events to park responsibly by avoiding fire hydrants and entryways.
