Timothy Shelven

Timothy Francis Shelven, 55, of Riverside, died on Dec. 20, 2023. A lifelong resident of Riverside, He was a 1986 graduate of Fenwick High School and a 1990 graduate of Michigan State University. He spent the majority of his career as a Senior Investigator at the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission.

He had two favorite places in this world: the bluff of Lake Michigan and his workshop. An incredibly talented craftsman, he could design and create anything, from furniture to beautifully hand-carved Santas. His workshop was a haven, but it was in Glenn, Michigan where he found the most peace and solace surrounded by the trees and water. His best memories were of long summer days spent on the bluff exploring with his sons. He also cherished time with family and friends at countless bonfires, beach walks to Pirate Cove, and cruises in his Zodiac boat along the shoreline, days filled with much laughter and happiness.

He had a meticulous nature, quick wit, and was always willing to help a friend in need. When faced with challenges, he drew on his faith to remain positive and hopeful for better days ahead. He will be deeply missed especially by his two sons who brought him the most joy in his life. His wish would be for us to love each other unconditionally with understanding and compassion.

Tim was the father of Joseph and Sam; the son of Therese Ann and the late Gerald; the brother of Julia Rastelli and Patrick and Nancy Shelven; the former husband of Elizabeth; and the uncle of several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at Ivins/Moravecek Funeral Home, 80 E. Burlington St. Riverside. Mass of Christian burial was at St. Paul VI Parish (St. Mary’s Church), Riverside, followed by private interment.
