As summer officially begins, Riverside Brookfield High School once again is the place to be for high school boys basketball. The 21st Riverside Brookfield Summer Shootout takes place Friday, June 21, through Sunday, June 23, at the high school. The complete list of 84 teams and game schedules are available at riversidebrookfieldbasketball.com.
It is an NCAA Live Event for Division I college coaches.
The host Bulldogs and Lyons Township are among the field and actually play each other this season at 2:25 p.m. Saturday. Three of the four state champions from this past season also will attend — Homewood-Flossmoor (Class 4A), DePaul Prep (3A) and Phillips (2A).
“The casual high school basketball fan would get the opportunity to see many of the top projected teams and players for 2024-25. There are generally over 200 college coaches who attend, and it is pretty high-level summer basketball,” said RBHS boys basketball coach Mike Reingruber, the Illinois High School Basketball Coaches Association’s Section 8 Co-coach of the Year this past season.

“We have pretty much all of the top teams in the state attending. We do have a couple more downstate schools that we haven’t had in the past, like Peoria Manual, Peoria Central and Moline.”
Every team plays four games, with two games on two of the three days. The games are two, 20-minute halves with running clocks.
The Bulldogs open Friday against Morton at 12:55 p.m. and Neuqua Valley at 2:45. Their final game is against Peoria Manual at 3:20 p.m. on Saturday.
The Lions start Friday with Joliet West at 2:45 p.m. and Mt. Carmel at 4:35. Their finale is against Niles Notre Dame at 3:20 p.m. Saturday.
