Mary Lou Nitz (nee Sauer), 82, of North Riverside, died on Oct. 7, 2025. Born on Sept. 1, 1943, she led a life full of compassion and resilience. She was a graduate of Kelly High School in Chicago and Five Holy Martyrs. Her huge laugh, warm heart and loving spirit will forever be cherished and missed. She retired from the Loyola Hospital Cancer Center where she worked in the medical records department. She loved her Bunco Group, her many aunts, uncles and cousins and especially her grandson, Hayden. She was grateful for the care that her sons, Justin and Jason, provided during her illness.
Mary Lou was the mother of Jason (Diane) Nitz and the late Justin Nitz; the grandmother of Hayden Nitz; the sister of the late Michael Sauer; and the aunt of Michael (Maribel) Sauer and Joan (Gerhart).
Services and interment at Mount Auburn Cemetery will remain private.
