I couldn’t disagree more with Mr. Dobbins regarding Flock cameras. I don’t think it’s crystal clear that security benefits far outweigh the critical privacy rights and concerns of Riverside residents regarding this invasive technology. I don’t want my license plate shared and in a data base where it can be abused.

I agree with Mr. Shevitz that residents’ information shouldn’t be collected simply because they drove down Akenside or Longcommon roads. Moreover, before renewing the Flock contract, the board should prove to Riverside residents it is worth the cost and is necessary. And more imperative, that it is not violating the privacy rights of Riverside residents.

I would also recommend to the board that they respond Mr. Shevitz’s reasonable questions. Finally, I urge Riverside residents to request that the board answer all relevant questions regarding Flock cameras before renewing the Flock contract.
