Add another achievement to the career of Doc Mack, owner of Galloping Ghost Arcade on Ogden Avenue in Brookfield.

Already inducted into the International Video Game Hall of Fame, Mack can now also say he is the owner of the best arcade in America, according to Travel + Leisure.

“A new analysis from rental car company SIXT ranked more than 200 arcades across the U.S., using factors like Google ratings, number of games, size, and online search interest,” Travel + Leisure shared. “Food options, VR and other themed experiences, and the availability of unlimited-play passes also counted toward the final score. The results were adjusted for city population so smaller destinations could compete with arcades in major cities and tourist hubs.”

With more than 1,000 games, Galloping Ghost Arcade is “billed as America’s largest video arcade.” The SIXT analysis found that the arcade had a search volume of nearly 70,000 inquiries and a Google rating of 4.7 stars.

Galloping Ghost Arcade was the lone Illinois arcade to make the list. The 2-4 spots of the rankings all went to arcades in New Jersey, and Texas and New Jersey were tied for the states with the most arcades on the list at three.
