Brookfield voters won’t have a tax referendum on the ballot when they go to the polls on Nov. 2. But they will be asked to consider a question asking elected officials in Springfield to reform the pension system for police and firefighters.
RBHS changing residency check firms
There will be a new firm investigating residency issues at Riverside-Brookfield High School this fall. Next week District 208 Interim Superintendent David Bonnette plans to recommend that the District 208 school board hire a new firm to conduct residency investigations at the school, replacing National Investigations, the firm that has handled residency investigations for the past two years at RB.

A man accused of passing bad checks at two Riverside businesses on Aug. 9 is in Stephenson County Jail after police in Freeport charged him with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Church patron wants quick decision
The Brookfield Plan Commission could be weighing a proposal for a new church at the corner of Grand Boulevard and Maple Avenue as early as September, according to the woman who has spent more than $1 million assembling the land for the church over the past year.

Riverside trustees won’t delay rec board vote

Life in prison for 1991 Brookfield murder
First reported 08/16/10 4:45 p.m.Darryl Sutton, the man who in June was found guilty for a second time of raping and murdering Monica Rinaldi in Brookfield in 1991, was sentenced to natural life in prison by Judge Thomas M. Tucker on Aug. 11 at the Maybrook Courthouse.
Cyclists to descend on Riverside in August
Web Extra!Motorists and pedestrians in Riverside will need to watch out for a couple of waves of cyclists on Sundays in the coming weeks as two large bike events will be rolling through the village. The first cyclists will pedal through Riverside on Sunday, Aug. 15 during the 6th Annual Wright Ride, a recreational tour sponsored by the Oak Park Cycle Club.
