Author Archives: Kathleen Thometz

I am an artist, writer, and art instructor with four children, one husband, and two doodle-dogs. I have contributed articles to the mid.com and Chicago Parent Magazine and wrote the Artist's Eye column in The Western Springs Journal as well as a blogger for thelatest.com. I am the founder of Doodle Art & Design, a teaching studio/gallery/retailer of my signature kits. I am a Trustee of the Thomas Ford Library. I have a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BA in English Lit from my previous life. I spent four years as the grant writer for the Riverside Arts Center. I enjoyed working with the dedicated group at the RAC. They have a strong desire to bring making and viewing fine art to as many children and adults as possible. I think that looking at and creating art can be very intimidating for many people. I will be discussing art in a way that makes it accessible to everyone. I believe that everyone, no matter their skill level, can enjoy making art. Sometimes, to allow for a deeper understanding of the art discussed in my blog, I will present an art project that you may want to try!
