Thomas W. Guardi, 78, of Riverside, died on July 13, 2026. Tom was a retired accountant and appeals officer for the IRS. He was also an active board member of the Frederick Law Olmsted Society, having served as treasurer for three years and auditor of the books for many years.
He was a valued member of the Landscape Committee helping to maintain the public lands to preserve the Olmsted legacy. He was awarded “Park Steward” status by the Riverside Landscape Advisory Commission and was also awarded the title of “Honorary Commissioner “of the Riverside Historical Commission because of his many years of volunteering to help in the museum preserve the history of this landmark community.
He loved gardening and spending time with his granddaughters and took them to soccer practices, piano lessons and trips to museums and the Arboretum.
Tom was the husband of Constance “Connie” (nee Pearson); the father of Thomas (Ariella) Guardi; grandpa of Leonora and Francesca Guardi; son of the late Gaetano and Katherine (née Tatoole) Guardi; brother of the late Vita Pennington and Stephan Guardi; and uncle of many nieces and nephews and one grandnephew.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1 at Ivins/Moravecek Funeral Home, 80 E. Burlington St., Riverside.
