Candidates for elective office were up bright and early Monday morning in Brookfield, the first day to turn in nominating petitions for the April 5 consolidated election. Voters will head to the polls that day to elect a village president, three village trustees, a village clerk and three library board trustees.

Crowley replaces Mario Lavorato, who resigned from the board in late December citing heath reasons.
Making the inaugural scene not always glamorous
This will be the second time I have gone to see the inauguration of a president. And, although I appreciate the historic value of “being there,” I am not such an “insider” on the Washington scene that I’ll get a great seat anywhere. Thus, I will be a witness to history, albeit at a distance.
