Lyons Township’s rocky season came to an end last week with a 63-42 loss to Proviso East in its own regional title game.

The Lions struggled to find the basket in the first half, connecting on just 3 of 28 shot attempts. Proviso East’s Jacob Pullen and Nate Fuqua took advantage of the poor shooting, scoring 21 points and 18, respectively, in the game.

Steve Sitkowski’s nine points led LT, who finished the season with an overall record of 14-12.

On March 1, the Lions were forced to battle back in the waning seconds to upend seventh-seed Farragut 62-60 in the semifinals of the regional.

Leading by as much as 12 points at one point in the third quarter, the Lions allowed Farragut to chip away at the lead. Sean Scott and Isiah Williams scored 36 points in the second half for Farragut. Scott hit five three-pointers in the second half, including one with a minute and a half left to cut LT’s lead to two.

Mike Scavuzzo scored four points with under a minute remaining to close out the win for Lyons. The senior led the Lions with 17 points, while Mark Skorvanek added 16 points to go along with his seven rebounds.
