Born on Aug. 17, 1920 in Chicago to John and Rose Ramocinski, her mother died early in Helen’s life and her father married, Theresa, a few years later. Helen’s brother, John and her two step-sisters, Emily and Bernice, preceded her in death.
She married Edward F. Vlasak on Oct. 8, 1949, and they lived together in Chicago and its western suburbs until his death in 1997. They had one son, Gregory, who lives with his wife, Ellen, on Whidbey Island, north of Seattle. Ms. Vlasak moved to the island in 2004 and settled into her new life in the Pacific Northwest for her last seven years.
She loved Polish and Bohemian food and enjoyed cooking, particularly baking cakes, pastries and other delights. Mrs. Vlasak was a member of St. Barbara Church in Brookfield for many years and served as a volunteer for the sacristy.
Ms. Vlasak is survived by her son, daughter-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and friends.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on Nov. 19 at St. Barbara Church, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
