He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired in 1991 from Taylor Coating Sales, Inc., which he owned, in Brookfield.
Mr. Taylor was a former Brookfield village trustee, a library board member and former president of the Salt Creek Model-A Ford Club. He was also a member and former deacon of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and very active in its athletic department. He enjoyed fishing and golf, umpired 16-inch softball games in many suburban leagues and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his children, Sheri (William) Fowler, Kim (Russ) Blumhagen, Lisa (Kurt) Schilling and Craig (Sandy) Taylor; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Jack Taylor, Helen Kelling, and Dorothy Pruitt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine M. Taylor (nee Toepper).
Services were held on Nov. 29 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, followed by interment at Concordia Cemetery. Memorials to the St. Paul School Athletic Fund, 9035 Grant Avenue in Brookfield, IL 60513 are appreciated.
