The Lyons Township girls swimming team capped off a stellar campaign by taking 10th place at the state finals hosted by Evanston over the weekend.
The Lions secured 46 points, courtesy of strong relay event swims and individual performances from Elly Vitek and Louisa Hoffman.
Vitek and Hoffman finished sixth and seventh in the state in the 100-yard freestyle, respectively, recording times of 51.79 and 51.99 seconds. Vitek also took eighth in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 1:51.77.
The Lions finished among the Top 10 teams in all three relay races. In the 200-yard medley relay, Kelly Garrow, Elizabeth Murphy, Kristine Rosenberger and Kristen Young collaborated for a time of 1:48.06 to take eighth place. The Lions’ 200-yard freestyle relay team of Rosenberger, Hoffman, Young and Vitek also earned eighth place (1:36.83).
In the final race of the day, LT finished 10th in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Rosenberger, Hoffman, Mackenna Dunn and Vitek posted a time of 3:31.91.
Coached by Kurt Johns, LT won the West Suburban (Silver) Conference title during the regular season.
