Seventeen local students were among those receiving degrees during commencement ceremonies this spring at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, including Brookfield residents John C. Dunigan (B.S. in agricultural & consumer economics), Liam L. Hession (B.S. in computer science – honors), Jacqueline E. Janney (B.S. in technical systems management), Mark R. Landess (B.S. in mechanical engineering – honors) and Thomas B. Miller (B.A. in political science); North Riverside resident Brian R. McMahon (B.S. in recreation, sport and tourism – high honors) and Riverside residents Rhiannon N. Ardisana (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine – honors), Kieran C. Brennan (B.S. in supply chain management and marketing – honors), Rachel E. Buccieri (B.A. in English), Carly L. Campbell (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine – honors), Catherine M. DeMuro (B.S. in natural resources and Environmental sciences – high honors), Taylor A. Hoch (B.S. in advertising), Steven C. Jastrzebski (M.S. in civil engineering), Scott M. Rysz (B.S. integrative biology – distinction), Alexander C. Shaw (B.S. in integrative biology and Spanish), Tyler D. Wienke (B.S. in agricultural and consumer economics – honors) and Sara F. Willinger (B.S. in advertising).

Among the local students receiving bachelor’s degrees from Marquette University in Milwaukee this spring were Riverside residents Evan Moran (B.S. in accounting), Daniel Tallarico (B.S. in finance) and Colleen Carey (B.A. in public relations) and Brookfield resident Erin Sventy (B.S. in biomedical sciences).

Several local college students graduated this spring from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, including Brookfield residents Krista Fultz, Chelsea Most and Elizabeth Smith; North Riverside residents Pavlina Dropka and Daniel Hunt; and Riverside resident Joanne Tabor.

NIU also released the names of students on its 2013 spring semester dean’s list, including Riverside residents Andrew Hanley and Kyle McKain and Brookfield residents Chelsea Most, Zachary Howard, Nicole Walker and Mark Kral.

Brookfield residents Cecilia C. Payne and Staci R. Sherman were named to the dean’s list for the 2013 spring semester at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich. Dean’s list students must attain a grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4-point scale for the semester.

Courtney Ann Kulinski, of Brookfield, a sophomore in environmental engineering at the Missouri University of Science and technology in Rolla, has been named to the honor list for the 2013 spring semester by attaining a GPA of at least 3.2.

North Riverside resident Kristen Schaefer earned regular honors on the Aurora University dean’s list for the 2013 spring semester. She attained a GPA of at least 3.6 for the semester.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison announced last month that Riverside resident Katherine Wade, a student in the School of Human Ecology, was named to the dean’s honor list for the 2013 spring semester. In addition, Riverside resident Diana Goldberg was named to the dean’s list for her work last semester in the School of Education.

Emily Andrulis, of Brookfield, was named to the dean’s list, earning high honors, for the 2013 spring semester at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. To achieve high honors, students must have a GPA of at least 3.8 for the semester.

Brookfield resident Jesse Mezera was named to the dean’s list at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais during the 2013 spring semester by attaining a GPA of at least 3.5.

Alexandra VandeMerkt, a sophomore majoring in business administration, was named to the dean’s list for the 2013 spring semester at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass. She attained a GPA of at least 3.5 during the semester. She is the daughter of Jayne VandeMerkt of Riverside.

Sequoia M. Rada, of Brookfield, was named to the 2013 spring semester dean’s list at Eastern Illinois University for attaining a GPA of at least 3.8 for the semester. Rada is majoring in education/professional studies.

Claire E. Chaney and Molly M. Chaney, both residents of Riverside, were named to the dean’s list for the 2013 spring semester at Washington University in St. Louis by earning a GPA of at least 3.5 for the marking period.

Brookfield resident Jennifer Freiberg, a sophomore studying speech-language-hearing at University of Kansas, was named to the honor roll in the university’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for the 2013 spring semester.

Jonathan Kingzette, of Brookfield, was named to the dean’s list for the 2013 spring term at North Central College in Naperville, attaining a GPA of at least 3.6.

Andreja Siliunas, a junior psychology major from Riverside and a Trinity High School graduate, has been named to the dean’s list for the 2013 spring semester at The College of Wooster (Ohio), attaining a GPA of at least 3.65 for the marking period.
