Crews from Nicor as well as emergency personnel remain on the scene of a gas main break on the south end of Brookfield.

A construction crew digging in the parkway in the 4100 block of Deyo Avenue struck the high-pressure main on Monday, June 13 around 9 a.m. According to police, neighbors were encouraged to evacuate their homes, but there were no forced evacuations in the area.

Nicor, according to police, have estimated that the high-pressure main ought to be shut down by 11 a.m. The gas main break was announced by the village of Brookfield just after 9 a.m.

Traffic has been shut down on Rochester Avenue between Deyo and Raymond avenues. Southbound traffic on Deyo has been shut down at Ogden Avenue.
