For the seventh consecutive year, Lyons Township High school students and staff plunged into icy Lake Michigan and raised the most money of any group participating in the 2019 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois.

LTHS’ group raised $21,788 with the help of teachers and students and has raised more than $98,000 in the Polar Plunge in the past seven years. Including the $4,700 the school has raised in their annual Plane Pull, LTHS has raised more than $100,000 for Special Olympics Illinois.

LTHS won four awards in the 2019 Polar Plunge, including the Golden Plunger Team award for raising the most money overall, the Cool School Challenge award for being the school raining the most money, the Best Costume Team award and the Golden Plunger Individual award, which went to Dave Root, who raised $4,805.
