Riverside Township Lions Club officials in May announced that 20 organizations will share more than $9,000 in the club’s annual distribution of funds.
Annually the club donates to organizations that provide services to the visually impaired and the hearing impaired, as well as to organizations that assist children and adults who are disabled or have special needs. Financial support also is provided to a number of local charities and organizations
Organizations serving Riverside Township selected to receive donations this year include the North Riverside and Riverside public libraries to purchase materials for hearing impaired and visually impaired patrons; PeopleCare; the Riverside Arts Center; Cycling Without Age; Riverside Township; and the Young Life and Best Buddies programs at Riverside-Brookfield High School.
Other west suburban organizations selected to receive donations this year include Pillars in Berwyn; Seguin Services Inc. in Cicero; and Aging Care Connections in La Grange.
In addition, donations were given this year to the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind, Second Sense, Hadley School for the Blind, Chicago Hearing Society, Eversight, the Fisher House at Hines VA Hospital, Dogs for Better Lives and Live Out Loud.
