Single mom and nurse
Nancy Patchett, 73, of Brookfield, died on Sept. 1, 2026. Born on July 25, 1953, she lived in Brookfield, where she and her soulmate, Marty, owned M&N Video store in 1992 until he died at the age of 39.
Though losing Marty was an unimaginable heartbreak, she found the strength to carry on and raise their children as a single parent. A stubborn woman, full of determination, incredible strength, and unwavering love, she worked tirelessly to provide for them and give them a good life. With incredible perseverance, she put herself through school while working in banking for a number of years and eventually earning her LPN, then dedicated herself to a fulfilling career tending to others at Hines VA Hospital, where she was able to make a difference in the lives of those she cared for. She was funny, sarcastic and never met a dog she didn’t like.
Her daughter grew up to be her best friend. In later years, her son Bart became a source of tremendous comfort and support. They lived together and he helped take care of her. He stood by her and made sure she was never alone when she needed him most.
Her life was one of resilience, sacrifice and devotion. She will be remembered for never giving up and continuing to move forward. She will be deeply missed and warmly remembered.
Nancy is survived by her three children, Justin Patchett, Bart Patchett, and Tammy (Jim) Scariano; her six grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua, Jessica, and Jadon Patchett, and Haylee and Tyler Scariano; her siblings, Mary (Bob) Spreitzer, Jim Dosselman, Cathi (Greg) Harp, and Roy (Gina) Dosselman. She was preceded in death by her adoring parents, Roy and Catherine Dosselman and her brother, Mike Dosselman.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
