A grand jury returned indictments against five people involved in the election night beating of Wayne Pesek, a former North Riverside village administrator, at the Golden Steer in Forest Park.
Charged were Frank Marzullo, Berwyn’s outgoing Public Safety director; his son, Jerry; and his brother, Russell.
Sources close to the investigation confirmed the other two men allegedly involved were Michael Fellows, a Berwyn police officer, and Charles Baugh.
Each one of the five men indicted were charged with aggravated battery. Also, Russell Marzullo has been charged with unlawful restraint and Frank Marzullo was slapped with an additional four charges of misconduct.
Jerry Marzullo is a former Berwyn firefighter and currently a Cook County state’s attorney; Russell Marzullo is employed in the City of Chicago’s Department of Transportation.
The beating took place around 11:30 p.m. at the Golden Steer, 7635 W. Roosevelt Rd. on April 5, following the election of one of Marzullo’s political rivals.
Berwyn mayor-elect Michael O’Connor had pledged to fire Marzullo if he were elected.
