The following information was obtained from police reports filed by the Riverside and Brookfield police departments from May 28 through June 6 and represents a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Unless otherwise indicated, anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime. The cases have not yet been adjudicated.
Riverside police reported that a home in the 400 block of Blackhawk Road was burglarized sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. on June 2. A full inventory of items removed from the residence was not available. However, police said that jewelry and power tools were among the items missing.
The burglar gained entry to the home by kicking in the locked rear patio door. The locks were still intact, but the inside door frame had been shattered by the force of the blow. Once inside the burglar ransacked the house. Riverside enlisted the help of the Illinois State Police crime lab to help process the scene.
Riverside police are continuing their investigation into the case.DUI
? Riverside police charged Berwyn resident Alex F. Cudzik with driving under the influence after a 911 call that a reckless driver had struck at least two cars while driving eastbound on 26th Street near Harlem Avenue and fled the scene at 3:15 p.m. on June 6. A North Riverside officer pulled Cudzik over at 26th Street and Riverside Drive in Berwyn and he was identified by witnesses. After failing field sobriety tests, he was arrested and blew a .26 on the Breathalyzer, over three times the legal limit, at the station. He was also cited for several traffic violations.
? Countryside resident Michael Kennedy, 40, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and a pair of DUI counts after allegedly driving his red pickup truck through a red light at 39th Street and Ogden Avenue at 2:13 a.m. on June 4. After he failed field sobriety tests, a routine search uncovered in Kennedy’s front pants pocket some white powder folded inside some paper. Kennedy allegedly told police it was cocaine and that he had used some earlier in the evening. He was charged with DUI-alcohol and DUI-drugs, possession of a controlled substance and disobeying a traffic control signal.
Others cited for DUI between May 28 and June 6 by Riverside and Brookfield police included:
? Ricardo Lozano, 28, of Berwyn, who was observed allegedly speeding eastbound on 47th Street at Arthur Avenue, Brookfield, and driving between lanes at 1:55 a.m. on May 28. A breath test at the station revealed a blood-alcohol level of .088.
? Peter Golden, 49, of Chicago who was observed allegedly drifting between lanes while southbound on Harlem Avenue near Blackhawk Road on May 29 at 2:12 a.m. After failing field sobriety tests and blowing a .10 on a portable breath test, he was arrested. He was later found to be driving on a suspended license (from a previous DUI).
? Tomas DeLeon, 32, of Berwyn, who was pulled over for speeding 65 mph northbound on Harlem Avenue at 27th Street at 3:05 a.m. on May 29. He was finally pulled over at Cermak Road and Grove Avenue in Berwyn, where he failed field sobriety tests. He refused to submit to a breath test.
? Gregory Maxwell, 35, of Chicago, who was observed allegedly crossing the double yellow line three times while traveling westbound on Ogden Avenue near Lionel Road, Riverside, at 2:08 a.m. on May 30. He blew a .119 on the Breathalyzer.
? Humberto M. Valdez, 37, of Maywood who was pulled over on First Avenue near 31st Street, Riverside, at 12:15 a.m. on May 30 after a random check revealed his license plate registration to be suspended. He failed field sobriety tests, but refused to submit to a breath test.
? Jan Klimek, 26, of Chicago, who allegedly had driven over the center line while northbound on First Avenue near Ogden, Riverside, at 9:10 p.m. on June 4, prompting several 911 calls from other drivers. Klimek was also charged with illegal transportation of open alcohol and possessing no valid driver’s license.
? Mindaugas Gedgaudas, 31, of Riverside, who allegedly crossed the double yellow line and almost struck a police squad car on Harlem Avenue near Burlington Street at 1 a.m. on June 5.
? Salvador Villagomez, 29, of Lyons, who allegedly crossed all lanes of traffic to make a right hand turn from Harlem Avenue to Ogden Avenue, nearly striking other vehicles, at 4:04 a.m. on June 5. He blew a .192, over twice the legal limit, at the station.Theft
? A 33-year-old Riverside man was charged with theft of services after he allegedly hired a limousine and then failed to pay the driver around 8:30 p.m. on May 30. According to police, Raymond Nosal called a limousine driver and promised him $175 an hour to pick him up at the LaGrange YMCA and then drive him to a night spot in Chicago.
Once the driver picked up Nosal, however, he was instructed to take Nosal to the 100 block of East Quincy Street in Riverside. Once there, Nosal allegedly informed the driver he had no money and no credit card and couldn’t pay.
The driver contacted police, who then charged Nosal with misdemeanor theft.
