Joanne M. Bazata (nee Mulac), 93, a longtime resident of Brookfield, died on July 12, 2026. Born on April 18, 1933, she was a longtime member of Sokol (over 60 years), member and past president of the Brookfield Women’s Club, member and past president of Lincoln School PTA, active in Girl Scouts, and volunteered many years doing tax preparation at the Brookfield Public Library. In addition to being reunited with family members who have passed, she is now reunited with her dear friends, Joan Janowick and Ellen Thorburn.
Joanne was the wife of the late Ronald Bazata; the mother of John Bazata and Sandy (Oscar) Martinez; the grandmother of Ami Bazata & Adam Bazata, Ryan Martinez, and Kayla Martinez & Kyle Martinez; the great-grandmother of Amberlyn & Dylan Bazata; sister of the late Elinore Stirek & the late Mildred Stroner; and sister-in-law of Judy Bazata.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Sokol Spirit, 3909 Prairie Ave., Brookfield, would be appreciated.
Memorial visitation will be held on Aug. 8 from 2 p.m. until the Celebration of Life at 4 p.m. at Johnson-Nosek Funeral Home, 3847 Prairie Ave., Brookfield.
